Superstars of Dance airing in January - Team India

Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on this project I have been working on. A few of us will be representing india for So you think you can dance special edition to be aired in January .. called " Superstars of Dance" presented by Nigel [judge from So you think you can dance ] and Simon ( Judge from american idol)

Basic info
10 countries
Each country : 1 Duet performance ( Bharatnatyam)
2 Solo Performance (Classical/Kathak)
Group Performance (Bollywood/Bhangra)

Nakul Dev Mahajan , choreographer for "So you think you can dance reality show" got offered the opportunity to represent India. Although no voting is involved since each country is representing a judge, it will be an honor for everyone who lives in the LA or OC area to come and support us at the taping which is going to be between Dec 10 -21, 2008 near Universal Studios, CA ( Email me at monti360@gmail.com if interested in attending).

I just saw their performance, and ehh..not a big fan. The two girls were not in sync at points, it wasn't very energetic, they were singing with the music, the girl in the green clearly had some sari problems since the bottom of it was pretty much at her knees, and the song that they chose was alright, nothing special. On the bright side, were kind of fine..names and numbers anyone? But hopefully the bhangra/bollywood gets us back to the top..goodluck guys!

Bollywood Duet It was a Dhola Re from Devdas and it incorporated a lot of bharatnatyam. I've never done bharatnatyam, but my sister has done 2 arangetrams under 2 gujus and I've seen countless and countless bharatnatyam performances, so I know whatsup. It was VERY poorly executed. Coordination was weak. Mistakes were clearly seen and the girls looked scared on stage (expressions sucked). It put India in tie for bottom.

I would like to know how these dancers were selected. Meh. Can't wait for the group performance!!!

ireland already sent their group team...which means they are gona show groups for all i think..ireland hasnt showed a duet yet..yet others have...this layout is confusing..
im a big fan of irish music n dance btw, totally down with their shit.

The monks were down right sick, that was some crazy stuff that they did (esp pulling a KJ with the little kids). Hopefully the bhangra/bollywood will be on tomorrow, can't wait baby!

as sick as the monks were, i dont believe id consider that dancing. they straightup were doing a kung fu demonstration, with other shaolin monastery training drills with music in the background. i dont consider that dance. but lets see how they do in later rounds! sick job regardless!

there is no actual bhangra section, theres 1. solo, 2. duet, 3 group. i believe its general bhangra fusion/bollywood stuff. and abhijit from bmw/sher is in the team..i think his twin is also? not sure. and daman from drp.

each team so far has shown 2 dances of 3. only 4 of them have shown their group dance already...the Irish opened the show with theirs...the monks did theirs for china, etc..

cant wait to see indias.

How long is it going to last? And if they start eliminating countries week by week, will groups/duets/solos need to do more performances? They did a shitty shitty job explaining how the show works.

The finale is supposed to be on the 26th. I'm guessing the countries that are safe each week will have to come up with new routines?

Hey Everyone,
Sorry for some of the confusion.. but here is whats going on...
1) Round 1 - Each country has a chance to perform in the duet, 2 solo and a group performance. After the total points are calculated, based on the placing will determine if they advance to semi finals in which they would need a new routine.
2) Bhangra/Bollywood : As for the group performance for india, I had to drop out as lead the week before shooting due to a special project for work. Everyone has 3 weeks to prepare before the shooting in december. The dance is pretty much simple bhangra/bollywood. It was choreographed by Nakul/Me. Abhijit (former BMW, now on Sher), his twin bro Abhishek, and Daman from Drp are some of the dancers you will recognize on the show.
