Teams That Revolutionized Bhangra

Okay, I'm just gonna put this out there (and I of course agree with all the aforementioned teams for the most part). NYU Pandemonium

Legitimate Reasons
1) Brought bhangra and real hip hop on the same stage
2) Opened eyes of non-bhangra people to the concept of bhangra through a healthy medium of fusion dance
3) Had some pretty memorable mixes

If you are the only person who mentioned them (and you happen to be on the team) then I doubt it was very influential.

Its funny you say they brought bhangra and "real" hip hop together because I notice you left out "real" bhangra. Pandemonium is a fusion team, not a bhangra team and there impact on the bhangra scene is minimal at best.

Raju Johal and Duniya Allstars

They kinda vanished in the last few years but they rocked the scene for awhile, co-ed and all guys

I think we're starting to name every "Tier I" team... Duniya had great dances and a lot of talent, especially Raju.. They went live at Boston (*after* the live trend had started.. i think this was in Fall '06 (corrected, thanks Meistro lol).. I dont see how they changed the game, though.

I agree with @faizan and @harmansingh re: nyu pandas... invigorated audiences but didnt change the bhangra game.

abhi, real hip hop? what is that? grills by Nelly? Bring em out by T.I.? Definately a negatory on your statement...if you brought real hip hop on stage, it would be real hip hop, not pop music...

Your mixes were decent at best...self-pumps are risky my man, don't do em if you can't back em up...

Pretty sure that non-bhangra people as you like to call them, already knew about bhangra from the 10 years of dancing by other teams before yours, your self-righteousness needs to relax.

i like your team, but don't malign it by professing to be one of the most influential teams in the history of dance teams.

With this list, you can't forget LBC (Bruin 2007) in the Smaller Impact section.
Damn, how could I forget LBC from Bruin 07! Totally agree, added to the Smaller Impact section :)

When we talk about "revolutionizing" bhangra, you cant just name every damn team out there that brought a little something different to the scene... Khalsa Junction and The Bhangra Team stand alone in the way they changed bhangra. Bhangra is where it is today because Khalsa Junction pretty much "wowed" everyone in North America. Their fan following was second to none. The Bhangra Team took live bhangra and made it main stream... They dominated the live scene like no team has done before. All the other bhangra teams that are out there today are spin offs of these two teams in one way or another... Just think about it... Yea Gabroo Shokeen and Nachdi Jawani have been doing live well before TBT, but they never reached the level of success that TBT did during that crazy stretch of wins they accomplished... Without Khalsa Junction and TBT, bhangra would not be what it is today...

1. KJ and TBT were two teams that definitely shifted the scene and moved bhangra forward
