We now know who's not going to be in the Sikh Day Parade this year![]()
hmm... this is an interesting concept (no golaks)... jw, are there any golak-free gurdwaras anywhere?Hattpichay said:Agreed. Golaks need to be removed altogether. No money, no greedy leaders. Have the congregation gather the money when the bills come (electricity, etc.). My thinking exactly...spot onJatt08 said:This is messed up in so many different ways. Just this past weekend we had the new committee selected @ El Centro Gurudwara (The 2nd oldest Gurudwara in US) and it was in a very peaceful manner. One of the uncle ji was telling me that they have never had elections to choose committee and its always just the names suggested by the older people of the community. I don't see why anyone would so desperately want to be Pardhan or a member unless he has some personal interest.

that has to be the worst part, that you're disrespecting the guru garanth sahib, you can't claim to abide by it if you're disrespecting everything it stands for by fighting in its presenceYankee Saini said:The one thing i dont understand is that 'how can an individual think of fighting inside the darbaar haal or even creating a such a scene in maharaj di hazoori?'
every individual that took a part in this CHAOS is SICK! it don't matter what their reason was but a person should have a common sense about NOT FIGHTING AT GURUGHARS!

any service to sikhi/gurudwaras/sikh organizations should be done as seva, nothing more, you're right about the personal interests, thats how everything gets corrupted. people are too selfish, the sad part is, it's been like that in the past, i think in the early days of sikhism "masands" were assigned to areas to collect donations meant for gurudwaras and the khalsa army, but these masands ended up getting greedy and pocketing some of the money, which is why the term has a derogatory connotation today.Jatt08 said:This is messed up in so many different ways. I am sure they have found ways to rationalize it. The great evil of religion is you can find ways to commit the most heinous crime and subsequently justify it thru your religious texts. In a religion that prides itself on building strong communities, this is truly a disgusting act. Moving forward, I do think that the sangat can play a strong role by not giving any money to this gurudwara. Nowhere in Sikhism does it say that you have to go to a gurudwara and give money when you bow your head in front of guru granth sahib. Until the management proves itself to be worthy of managing funds and opens up its accounts, there is no point in throwing away your hard earned money.hardeep_singh said:that has to be the worst part, that you're disrespecting the guru garanth sahib, you can't claim to abide by it if you're disrespecting everything it stands for by fighting in its presenceYankee Saini said:The one thing i dont understand is that 'how can an individual think of fighting inside the darbaar haal or even creating a such a scene in maharaj di hazoori?'
