I need your help in figuring out who the best djs/remixers are in north america. i am talking about the best of the best. People whose music you can bump to over and over. I will get in touch with them. The goal is to make a mixtape featuring djs with 5 djs each dj makes a set for 15 minutes. cd will be called "From the 5 rivers to 5 Cities"

please give me your feedback.

neet (2nyce) & swi are 2 essentials ... both are reachable via btf.

and if you can get in contact with DSB, im sure most people would anticipate a 15 min set of his in a heartbeat. you can try contacting him via his facebook music page, he seems to be very active on it.

those are three immediate names that come to mind but im sure there are many noteworthy candidates the rest of btf will suggest.

Dj Ace comes to mind. Da OcPz are also great option when it comes to the bc scene. Sargam reppin NYC has been on top of things lately. Can't go wrong Klasikz

@navkarn-thanks bro for the suggestions. i was already considering 2nyce i'll look into the other 2.

@ranjit- he is better than average for sure but i notice a lot of his music clashes. Not a candidate i am interested in.

@envy- ace is a friend of mine def very talented but i am trying to limit myself to just one dj from a region. Dunno who sargam is and klasikhs, once again i don't think he is in the top echelon. Just a personal opinion based on his mixing style. No hate towards anyone just an opinion.

DJ Ra has been putting out nice monthly mixes here since October. Definitely something to listen to.

Swizee and 2nyce are both good. Hope to hear less of 2nyce's signature choppy flange effect or whatever it's called! it sometimes takes away from the music

once again. goal is not to fire up other djs or start some kind of competition. im all about good music. i have not decided the direction i will be going with this mixtape going to discuss that with the other 4 dj's. Its all about the people listening. i just want good music out there and a sick ass summer mixtape for you guys to enjoy by end of june.

By Sargam, I meant the one and only Sargam Sethi mashin up the AEG mixes.

I always forget his name, but dude that makes BMW's mixes.

Jason is another great BC talent in my mind, and I know others can agree.

And I have no idea how mah dude up here in norcal has not been mentioned...GSingh, another highly talented mixer.

just imagine this coming out of nowhere on the mix, DSB's ability to blend dubstep/d&b/house with bhangra is unlike ANY other DJ. if you want this mix to be special, i feel he needs to be on it, just brilliant ...

Theres a difference between Mixers and DJ's bro. Point in case: I am a mixer, not a DJ. You dont hear me put out cd's of blended tracks, dance mixes, etc. I dont create full song mixes, and I haven't any from jason, nor sargam, nor sunpreet.

We MIX, that is we create dancable music sets, so theyre filled to the brim with effects, noises, chopped lyrics, etc. etc... You wouldn't necessarily play it at a club. Not saying any of the guys i named dont make dj sets, i'm just saying they don't come to mind for it.

Armaan is pretty good (DJ Armaani). Swi is pretty good, hes the moderator here (Swizzie, i believe is his DJ tag), 2nyce is another good one. Um... theres def more I'll get back to this over the weekend when i get some time to think.


EDIT: About Klasikhz... i cant say i agree with your opinion, Iqwak has some REALLY insane, really creative mixes. But i will agree with one of your other posts about cleanliness... not in terms of the mixing persay, but definitely in terms of levels and equalizing. Apart from that he's pretty nasty.

I honestly think it's better to figure out what you want out of the mixtape. Are each 15 min completely different styles? Similar but subtly different styles? See, quality after some level of technical expertise is subjective to taste, and you obviously have strong opinions on yours so claiming you'll decide after you pick the DJs is disingenuous.

Oh, I also recommend not calling out any DJs on the thread, just compile a list and then make your own decisions privately....more professional that way...

KSR, Klasikhz, DSB, 2Nyce would be my first picks. After that you have a ton of very talented people from Zillion (Jabar Jung), Kush, GSimz, GSingh, Armaan, Jason Kataria, Sargam of AEG, and Sunpreet of BMW, DJ Ra (Rahul3 on btf) etc etc etc
