Dj 1 - Love the travis barker instrumental, thought you could've brought another instrumental in at the chorus which would have given it some depth. Also thought you could have used a different sarangi/bhangra instrumental there that would have matched the Let's go instrumental better. Also the "ball till the day I fall" stuff seems really random when there are no other words leading up to it.

Dj 2 - thought this was really hype and had a lot of layers going on in it, but there just wasn't really too much of the song used. In my opinion its more creative to see what a person actually does with the song given rather than have a foundation that can work with pretty much any song at this bpm. That's just my taste though

Both were done really well gonna go with DJ 1 though

My vote - DJ 1.


DJ 2 definitely had more hype but seemed too busy at times. Which definitely clouded the overall finesse of the mix.

Torn on this, I thought both were ok, DJ 1 was clean but very simple in my mind. I know that mashups require effort to balance layers and whatnot, but it follows the same flow as the song, so the technical work is minimal (maybe cutting the verse up a bit to flow straight but that's it). So it's good, it's clean, it's simple. You can tell it's simple because the random sample drop at the end feels out of place...had they led into it or replaced a layer with that sample it would have fit better.


DJ 2 is obviously talented, pushed the boundary. Wasn't a difficult mix technically, but this DJ actually cut up the song, added new parts, had a vision. Built up the chorus, then dropped into it. People are calling it busy but I think that's incorrect! It's just not EQd well to highlight the song (i.e. Pulp fiction vocal is quiet and hard to understand. I've seen the movie about 100 times so I recognized it immediately which helped). Busy means a lot of layers, but that's not the case here. There's the song+deep bassline + kick. Some snares as well. The concept may be jumbled because it's jumping around, but the song overall is pretty clean in layers besides the interlude. would have liked something in the beginning as well instead of just simple beat (sounded like Dr Dre- Kush?)


I'm gonna go with DJ2 because I value the extra vision, even if I don't think it was executed cleanly. DJ 1 was smoother which I always appreciate, but in a mixing competition that gives such little time to mix, take risks and do something different!
