Had a great time this weekend in Tampa! Finally got away from all the cold weather in the Northeast. Congrats to Virsa, VT and NEBC for their respective placings. The sets were a blast to watch and the placings were well-deserved.
Pre-Mixer- Had no troubles getting from the airport to the...
Hi everyone,
I've put below Husky Bhangra's videos from this past semester. Its been a blast competing and meeting so many great teams (esp our friends on I-Bhangra, Buckeye and Hurricane!). Its been an honor and pleasure to also see the growth in a team made up of a majority of first-time...
Not to deviate too much from the original topic, but I think Shawn brings up a good point, more people should learn how to tie paghs, the resources are out there and I think a lot of people get intimidated by it-either by thinking they have to be sardars to know how to tie them properly or that...
Saw you guys live at Buckeye Mela and was amazed to see the strides in cleanliness and synchronization in the SPD video since then. When I saw the set at Buckeye, it just seemed that lines/diagonals weren't hit and overall stamina could have been better. In the SPD set, cleanliness and...
Really enjoyed watching the set-SMD has changed so much over the past couple of years and is finally getting the respect they deserve with these placings. You guys set the bar for clean, synchronized execution of a set.
Most of my comments pertain to the Elite 8 set- simply bc its the most...
In watching FCB over the past couple years, I think they have done something that is hard to do as a team and a captain, which is to reinvent yourself. At the same time, I feel FCB has not compromised their signature style and approach to Bhangra. Whether its a set from 2 years ago or today, you...
Re: First Class Bhangra @ Elite 8 2015 + Mix
This video gave me chills. The level of energy and passion only grew in all the dancers as the performance went on. Mad props for not even flinching when the music cut off. This performance and this video will def go down as one of those elite...
Way too many good teams here-right now I'm between FCB/SMD- it really depends what they bring. Does anybody know if GTV is going to be there? I don't think Harjot is typically there, but maybe this year?
Re: Nachde Nashville Competition Reviews
Hey,
On behalf of Husky Bhangra, I also wanted to thank the Nachde Nashville Committee for an overall enjoyable weekend. Before diving into the details of the weekend, my overall impression of the comp was one run by a competent, responsible and...
When watching this set, I feel like part of me had a reaction similar to Sue in terms of set design- in places like standardization, energy and formations I feel like JJ has done better. There were times when legs dropped in the back and execution of choreo was not the same throughout. Aside...
Hey,
For our saaps, we typically have each person carry them individually. For khunde we use the ski-pole bags/snowboard bags. For vardiyaan-we tryed the vaccuum seal bags-but for some reason never got around to vaccuum sealing them and it just made the vardis more disorganized. So we now just...
Yeah, overall, if it hasn't come through properly with my review, the comp was overall super well-run and organized- so I'd def also recommend teams apply. Also, Basim, we are having trouble getting the videos uploaded, but I'll probably post a team performance review once we get them up (to...
I feel like comp reviews aren't done enough by teams, so hopefully we can get one going for R2B2
Mixer- This was my first mixer that had both Raas and Bhangra teams- I think the committee did a good job of engaging both sides and making it fun. Though I think there should have been more...
Thanks so much for the love Daman! We had a great time at R2B2 (review of comp coming up shortly)-we are extremely honored for the placing among such a competitive lineup. It was great seeing some awesome performances on both the Raas and Bhangra side. Congrats to Nishani, you guys had a great...
I think one way to avoid judges placing teams based on name is maybe treating the performances like audition videos are ideally treated-in which the judges don't know the actual teams-and have to judge based on solely on the actual performance
While this will allow for more objective judging, I...
Really excited to be performing at Nashville! Can't wait to go up against all these awesome teams!
And hopefully we can put on a memorable set ;)
