another thing, I dont agree with girl on guy stunts unless the girl is doing a tower on the guy. Ive seen teams do mohrs and the girl has her legs wrapped around the guy's waist. I looks WRONG.

good discussion, i agree a lot with what meistro/havish said with keeping the moves feminine for girls to dance. when you are choreographing, you can def tell which moves are "too manly" for girls to do, and will often look awkward. there are many times where i do the choreo, and then when i see the girls doing it, im like, ok we need to feminize it, or just gave vague choreo directions to do something girly haha. an example, our choreography to the end of sudesh kumari's safari, i did something that could be construed as manly, but the girls flipped it and did some giddha that made it look a lot more all girls team appropriate. and coed stunts as a whole, big no no. i personally dont like stunts at all, asides from towers.

and like people have been saying all along, a lot of factors that we are debating are just in general terms, and need to be applied on a team by team basis. you have to be able to critique your own team and their abilities accurately to see what is best for you. if it means hiding the girls somewhat, do that. if it means showcasing the girls a bit more, do that.

and my two cents for girls' uniforms, shalwar kameez all the way. there are way too many times in the girls lunghi/chaadre where they open up, as there just is not enough fabric, and you either see too much leg, or tights, and it is just not appropriate. from talking to girls who have danced with both, i think they prefer the shalwars as well (see, columbia bhangra...dheerja i stalked your fb and found the most embarrassing pictures of you that i could :))

see? too much leg, im inappropriately aroused

see? prim and proper, and not sexually arousing :)

Well I don't think leg-showing is the chadar's fault. I mean, a chadar is not supposed to show your leg [ask the guys] but if it happens then that is a malfunction. So if girls want to wear chadar then they should, just make sure it's done securely and properly and they practice in it. Pretty chadray and nice fitted kurta can look plenty feminine, imo

Also about leg-opening and getting low and stuff [namely jugni?] couldn't you just make sure you are not facing the audience i.e. do it perpendicular to the audience.

On a side note: Need more female dholis.

if u get the chadra tied correctly ur legs wont show at all. look at india teams they go crazy jumpin around and stuff and their chadre stay in place. u jus gota learn and practice. plus jugni looks sick when u face the audience
