Damn, so much drama and hate. Whatever happened to bhangra being about having fun. We all started dancing because we wanted to have a good time, be proud of our heritage, and spread bhangra across the North American community. Now, it's all about how a competition was rigged, a dholi slipped for a second, the formations were off... yada yada yada.. We all understand how it sucks that it's hard to place at a competitions, many teams have to deal with this nowadays (especially within California). Every single person on every team puts at least some effort into preparation at a competition because, yes they would ideally like to place, but also because at the end of the day when they go back home with a pile of homework and sore calves, they know all the practice is worth it since they truly have a passion for bhangra.
If you think a team didn't deserve to get first place, that's fine. But as members of a bhangra team, be considerate to the fact that they still practiced and sweat and worked their asses off for a competition. It doesn't come easy to anyone, and by saying that they didn't deserve to place in a rude manner is just uncalled for. So what if someone's massi or chacha or best friend was a judge...get over it. Live your life, and move on. Bhangra (and BTF) can be a huge part of your life if you want it to be, but focus on the positive aspects of it instead of wasting your time typing away hatefully about another team. We are all dancers, we are all students, a lot of us work...we are busy people and bhangra is outlet for relieving stress and having fun. Don't identify this one hobby with a teams identity and personality, because there are so many rooms for mistake.
I usually don't post on things like this on BTF, but this entire thread is pretty ridiculous. I think it was humbling that MVP offered their trophy to VDUB, and it's funny how most of the people responding to this are not on any of the teams involved in the competition themselves, but just the same people that regularly have something to say about one person or the other. Don't forget that you dance because you love it, not to create hate. <3
