Man yall are still on this ??? ?? Get over it seriously ...I gave my two cents about their video! Wasnt being a dick or disrepecting at all ...I was just telling it how it was .. since when did telling the truth or being straight forward turn into such a big deal ??? Obviously no one on this forum can handle the truth right to their face -.- ..... but on a side note Im loving all this attention your giving to my post haha.

I really think you people need to reread what ive wrrote in all my post and understand that my comment was a general statement that hey!!! I personally think fs did better than nypd and ifI was to choose the 3 winning teams I would have gone with fs ...

Now please do us all a favor and get over it ! Yall sound so dumb arguing about something that should have never been a argument.....

I dont know why my opnion matters so dam much to you people ... or maybe bhangra has taken over your lives to the point where all you think about is bhangra... " omg he said nypd sucked and their set was boring ...." yall made something so small into something so dan big .... again get over it !!!! You people all start talking shit and trippin for the stupiest reasons
loooooool

I absolutely love the irony in all your posts. It's hilarious how you claim we are over reacting, being over sensitive and state we cannot handle the truth, then write out all these rage essays as replies that hardly make any sense and have nothing to do with anything. Forget Luminocity, stringing together your incoherent lines of text to form readable paragraphs in my head is the greatest brain training ever! haha but in all seriousness, just let it go man. You obviously missed the gist of what we are trying to teach you so there is no point in going back and forth. Information just seems to zip right past you, probably because you're too busy figuring out which smiley to use next or whatever else you young kids worry about these days. Anyways, have a good journey man.

Unitil you are a judge yourself you will not know how hard it gets when you have to get down to the little things, in my judging experience 3rd is the hardest trophy to give. Teams walk in wanting a black/white answer but sometimes it just comes to to a vote by the judges and majority wins.
Regardless 3rd shouldnt be the goal of anytime, take back all the feedback you can get and bring it harder next time! And as long as you did better then your previous experience a trophy shouldnt matter at all.
3rd place wasn't actually hard to give away there was a consensus of the 1, 2, and 3 and even the 4th spot amongst all of the judges, there was no majority in decision, not in this case at least so the judging itself shouldn't be discredited. And placing period is a hard task to accomplish, amongst 10 teams to have a 30% chance of taking home a trophy, makes a competition a competition, and Ankush has already described my view on this, thanks mayne. Idk what you have done as a judge, no offense intended honestly I really don't know haha, but when it comes down to a black/white answer, TEAMS DESERVE IT, I firmly believe that it's in the job description of a judge that a team has every right to know where they flawed, and where their mastery of the art was recognized especially after spending so much time and let alone money to be competing. No team should ever leave a competition without having full security and comfortability on reason behind why they did or did not place, if they do care about this. From the moment that we left the judges meeting to the moment I left the hotel the next morning, I was continuously being asked advise, being questioned on segments, dancers etc. It was so refreshing for myself and the other two judges to have a team wanting to improve, and it went all the way from team 1 down to team 10. But every team has the right to know yes in black/white what exactly and how exactly the judging took place. I was thrilled that Motor City Bhangra and it's Committee aloud the team-judge relationship to be of such transparent nature, something that many other competitions could adopt and apply.
HK, I have to respectable disagree on your 3rd place view. Although you might be talking about that small percent of teams in the circuit that always places 1st and 2nd, I am sure the other 8+ teams would like to place, even if a team that placed third isn't happy. Now, I am sure there are some who wouldn't be. If you let those teams cool down and ask them would you rather not place at all, they would take a 3rd place trophy over not placing. There are teams in the circuit that have never placed, I am sure a 3rd trophies for them would be like winning 1st. Especially if the lineup is tough. We placed 3rd at Bayside and didn't place at all at VPD (our first comp), you better believe we wanted feedback. I can tell your from experience if a judges gave us generic answers like "you guys need more energy" and that's it. to be honest with you, teams are not stupid and can call bullshit when they see it. It is easy to tell if a judge decided half way though a teams performance if the set wasn't worth watching. Exchanges like these make a judge lose their credibility and I can tell you I would ask for that judge to be removed and discredited if they were going to judge me in the future. As a Judge and experienced coach, your views on placing teams are really disturbing. It almost suggests you don't care who places third, or because it is a hard decision you just let it slide. Not the right attitude to have IMO, and not a good public statement.

Hats off to the judges for remembering every team and giving them feedback that was relevant to them and using details like "your green jodi.." or " this segment the blue jodi.." That is really helping a team improve and you are doing wonders for the bhangra community.

Anyway, Motor City congrats on a good first year comp, regardless of the bad publicity that has been happening on BTF, I have heard good things about this comp. Best of luck next year.
I agree with this completely.

"since when did a 3rd place trophy matter anyways? we got 3rd once and dont even know where the trophy is at the moment lol."

That just comes off as so elitist and ego-filled. Not something I'd want to hear from someone thats a judge.

Alright guys, I looked back through all the posts... I don't know the reason why you guys are fighting and hating on Deepi. All Deepi said was he thought that FS did better than NYPD which was his opinion. I know people get upset when feedback is given but there's no need to be starting fights o BTF especially when y'all posted up the video on here. You can expect everyone to praise y'all's performance everytime. I personally really love all the sets you guys have done, and mixes. That's I why I say we go ahead and drop this topic and proceed in harmony. :D

I think unknowingly your stupidity might have started an intellectual discussion, about how some teams feel about 3rd place. Which isn't too bad. So props Deep =)

smh.

typical attitude of someone who is obsessed with winning. it is this attitude that makes dancers into monsters. it is this attitude that makes them cry and break their trophies (seen it). it is this attitude that makes them fight each other (seen it). it is this attitude that makes them walk off stage when they don't place higher than third (seen it). it is this attitude that makes them lock themselves in their room and not socialize after the competition (seen it). it is this attitude that makes their ustaads curse our organizers (seen it). it is this attitude that makes teams insult competitions on facebook (seen it). it is this attitude that makes team members gesture to the audience to suck their dick (seen it).

time to grow up and realize there is more to life than winning. when this happens, we can all move forward as a circuit.

In reading the entire post, I was also going to comment on the importance of 3rd place to many teams who may not be "elite" yet but also the importance of it in general, for competitions offer a 3rd place for a reason. Even the smallest appreciation should be reciprocated with respect. But I'm glad that as I got further, others shared this view already...there's still hope lol

Pure maturity level issues that are only spreading. Worst part is they're passed down by elders.

LOL guys guys please. Every team has a different motivation and different goals. For PANJ we were never happy with 3rd that's all I am saying. For the 6yrs we competed we wanted to keep pushing ourselves. If we got too happy with 3rd we were afraid we wouldn't work harder.

All I meant was that you shouldn't settle for 3rd keep coming back harder. If we didn't have that mentality we wouldn't have been successful.

I can see that my "since when does 3rd place matter" was the wrong choice of words. It should have been " don't settle for 3rd, shoot for the moon"

I have always views myself as a part of the change not a part of the problem, this was just a bad choice of words.

Anywaysssss!! Ahah can we move on now!!

Hkiran, I believe the only reason people voiced their differences with the view you expressed in your post is because it was not specific to your team, so the clarification helps. Of course, 3rd is great, but strive to do better. I don't know if any team strives to be 3rd only, but rather as they say, shoot for the moon and if you miss, you'll land amongst the stars. If you and your team feel that 3rd doesn't need much attention since it will keep you from your competitive personalities, by ALL means that is absolutely 100% fine. No one has an issue with that. It was just your initial post, regarding what was being discussed in this thread. I'm paraphrasing, but what you intended in that post was 'Why even discuss the deliberation between FS and NYPD, its only 3rd place'. I guess, coming from someone with as much experience and respect in the circuit as you have, it was a little surprising as you are even called upon to be a judge at various competitions. I like to think that all dancers at a competition want and expect equal deliberation for 3rd as they do 1st. Dancers at the last position care how they can improve. All the spots matter.

In any case, I see where you were coming from, and I hope I didn't offend you in any way. Personally, I also agree with your competitive attitude towards placings. It is important to stay hungry for the number 1 spot.

Faizan, well said. I am disturbed by Harkiran's post, because she has many youngsters under her win. Gotta drop the ego and pride, and teams might enjoy dancing/coaching more. The end.

P.S. The seasoned dancers and veterans need to be much more mature and active about preserving the intangible feeling of doing bhangra, aka performing it for the love of it. Who cares if you do or do not get a trophy? What matters is that you love what you're doing and if you do that, the audience will follow and give you the ovation you deserve. I speak for myself when I say this; I danced to win the hearts of others, not to win trophies. The trophies were the icing on a 5 tier cake in my journey through the circuit.
