HAYNESWORTH SIGNS MASSIVE DEAL WITH REDSKINS


WASHINGTON - Moving swiftly in the first hours of NFL free agency, the Washington Redskins opened their deep pockets and snagged perhaps the biggest name available: Albert Haynesworth.

The Tennessee Titans' All-Pro defensive tackle agreed Friday to a seven-year deal worth about US$100 million, including a staggering $41 million in guaranteed money. The Redskins, known for their expediency in such matters, scheduled an afternoon news conference for their latest marquee signing.

Haynesworth's deal came within hours of another Redskins blockbuster: a six-year, $54-million agreement to re-sign cornerback DeAngelo Hall. The team also planned to release expensive and oft-injured cornerback Shawn Springs.

The moves marked a return to form for Redskins owner Dan Snyder, who for much of the decade has won the unofficial NFL off-season title with big-money signings, often negotiated within hours of the midnight ET start of free agency.

I think its a straight up slap to the face of the US economists and the crisis at hand. I don't care how good any athlete is 100 million dollars is TOO MUCH FREAKING MONEY. And as you can tell by the profile picture, I'm a huge fan. So in my opinion, its great that we got him but I'm just too critical of how much it took to get him. Complete waste of money. I don't even care if we get to the playoffs...100 million dollars, 41 million of which is gaurenteed. Shameful.

This is exactly why the Redskins will never win... Haynesworth is good, but I don't think hes worth that much money... The Redskins need a QB, till they get one, they will never amount to anything... Dan Snyder has no clue on how to manage his money, I need to apply for the Redskins GM job, it's so easy... Mike Vick going to the Niner talks are heating up, I cant help but smile on the inside, our 6th superbowl is in site...

Jason Campbell is a decent qb...with a little bit of exposure he can become half as good as Ben Rothlesburger...he has the potential and is still young.

The Redskins did pay too much for Albert, however this team has a chance to make the playoffs next year. They need to committ more to running the ball with Clinton Portis in the second half of the season and Campbell has to master the play-action. They have also gotten younger in their secondary and released Shawn Springs (good thing). I was watching the combine and there are some 6'3, 6'4 tall secondary players who did well which i hope Dan Snyder and his staff took notice.

Mike Vick going to the niners? i wish he was going to St.Louis....we really need a mobile qb. Keep us up-to-date with Vick.

Stick to bhangra... He made a very shitty Atlanta Falcons team a very dangerous team.... The year he got busted, many picked the Falcons to make it to the superbowl, but I guess Harman knows better... I think he's still going to be dangerous and he's far better than anything we have currently...

Athletes in the MLB and NFL actually make less of a share than they did in the past. Owners make so much that if we get a chance to look at their finances we would be like WTF.

Mike Vick is going to be terrible....I don't understand how a 8-8 team was projected to go the Superbowl the year after??? He also made Roddy White look like trash, while with Ryan at helm White makes the pro-bowl. In Mora's first year the Falcons made the playoffs not his 2nd and 3rd...Both years that team was 8-8. C'mon Vick I'd expect better than this....

Let the Redskins sign players to monstrous contracts....Dan Snyder is mental....Poor redskins fan...Learn how to build through the draft numb nut.

That 8-8 year, he was injury riddled from what I remember... The guy is still young, he may have a shitty first season, I'm cool with that. Niners need a QB, there is no one out there right now in my opinion that will be better than Vick in two years. Vick has always been a suspect passer, but his ability to run makes up for some of his passing ability. Mike Singletary wants to instill a in your face, smash mouth running offense, Vick could be a perfect fit in that scenario to complement Gore. He would be going to the west coast where the media is pretty tame compared to the east, so it should make the transition a little easier. It would be a fresh start for him and I'm pretty damn sure Niner fans would welcome him with arms wide open. I mean come on, we loved Bonds and San Francisco is the Gay capital of the world, everything flys out there... haha..

I hope you guys end up with VICK, at least you will be bottom feeders of the league until you figure out VICK wasn't the answer. This is the NFL, a qb has to PASS, he needs to be a accurate PASSER....Running will only take him so far. Defenses are getting faster and faster every year and Vick prolly won't have the same speed he did a while back. Guy is a freak of a athlete, born with talents very rare, but is missing parts of his brain. He isn't a leader that will have troops rally behind him when needed most. One thing your right on is the West Coast Media....much better than the East Coast BS on the TV, San Fran would prolly embrace Vick, i mean they embrace anyone and anything....

Nikhil, when Dockery became a free agent i was pushing for my Seahawks to get him..............in 2005. Not the same player he was a couple years ago. Dan Snyder and Al Davis related by any chance?
