OFFICIAL BOSTON BHANGRA RESULTS!!!!

competition was off the heezy. awesome talent. placings were awesome - just to be said that if APD screwed up a stunt or was their usual kinda messy, they wouldn't of placed and DRP would have probably gotten 3rd. Empire would've taken first and vcu second.

Props to MIT Bhangra - best boston team by far and starting off the night with a bang (hard being first to go)

DRP - amazing - dropped a stunt in final posing taking them out of placing probably...had the swing stunt go well and the new opener was awesome. great way to come out with the black sheet. basically new opener and same bruin 09 routine...amazing energy and great performance (if they didn't drop the stunt at the end possible would have gotten 3rd....???)

APD - got the audience on their feet (standing applause) - loudest in the audience and probably why they won (amazing singer)...they did the f'in 3 man with 2 towers and the 5th guys climbing the 2 towers an getting on. first time they didn't require the entire team and that freakin dancer climbed 2 -2man towers like an f'in monkey and got on stable. They held that stunt for atleast 10 seconds and thats why they got every person in the audience to stand. APD also was the cleanest performance of your history (personal opinion) - AWESOME JOB GUYS...they did a kanye gimmick that introduced KJ's version of a song (i'm blanking) also did KJ's wooden plank stunt from bruin 06.

Empire - bruin 09 and some new things but obviously the normal empire caliber...not gonna say much but the spelled at punjab (nearly a disaster b/c the N had problems getting his vest down but still got it down luckily but looked like he got stuck to make....pun-ab)...at the end they put a banner behind stage that said bhangra (i was like empire is so lame b/c they always put words that choreolate with bhangra and now their just gonna put bhangra on stage - LAME)...THEN...the team went behind it and they like flipped it over kinda and it said EMPIRE...I was like OOOOOHHHH SHHHIIIIITTTT....me personally i was not expecting that it that killed it...awesome performance and these guys were the cleanest with synch and choreo all the way to formations!!! awesome performance

VCU - new routine for their new team...can def tell its a new team but still was amazing (team with evergoing talent b/c they know what they need to do to win)...guys did some cool shit just felt their wasn't that much x-factor. like no cool leans or spins and stuff...did another cool box formation but wasn't as dramatic as the first one they did (now with aashiq at blowout)...but they were the first placing team to go and obviously they raised the bar and killed the first half)...

Sher - KALA HELD 2 FUCKING GUYS ON HIS SHOULDER (ONE STANDING ON EACH - THAT DESERVED ALL CAPITALS)...their routine was messy prob b/c they didn't have a lot of their varsity team - monti, lali, pavan. mix was pretty good but last year was better...their was a lion roar in their mix and they did a stunt where someone ran up like stairs of players and roared like a lion at the end thatwas pretty cool (hard to explain but it was a sher-style badass)

AEG - 2nd in the show. first top tier team that did really good. set the bar high and def should've been a contender for placing...just too many good performances...did jay sean-down remix in their mix pretty sick and def got the audience involved

Cornell - def top 2 of the collegiate teams tied with rutgers university. mix by klashikz which was sick and their choreo was good too...obviously it was just rough going against the other teams but they made a statement

Rutgers - def deserved the peeps choice. best routine i've ever seen from RU Bhangra (but that's my opinion). didn't go all live and had a sick mix....tied with cornell (prob beating them) for best collegiate team of the night besides DRP (i don't consider them colegiate tier)

BU Bhangra - average team in the crowd. doliyan ch jaan mix seemed really cool and creative they did. their style was kinda off, no energy, and choreo was average. had the auditorium bouncing when their routine opened up and crowd just went silent...no X factor in their performance...sucks also for them b/c they were right in between Empire and Sher - which already gave them the hardest position to dance in the entire competition in my opinion...hardest spot but somewhat pulled through...

Northeastern Texas Bhangra - good performances but among these big dogs in this competition, were the 2 lowest placing in my opinion.

Top 3 = APD, Empire, VCU/DRP/AEG (sorry they were the top dogs)
Bottom 3 = Northeastern, Texas, BU
Placings = APD was def influenced by their x factor which fueled the audience (i think that's why they won)...but if i had to say APD and empire should have tied 1st - which is not-doable i guess - b/c APD actually got louder crowd yells than empire (in my opinion)
MJ Gimmicks - everyone's was avg (every team almost did an mj gimmick) except for f'in bhangra empire's. they brought and MJ impersonator (it has to be) that f'in killed it with his MJ dancing. it was spot on. only problem - it easily took up 1 min of their mix. i think it should have been a 20-30 sec gimmick.

This competition def showed amazing modern bhangra. Every team did awesome and literally a very good day with stunts for teams (only 2 mishaps in entire show!). 3 mixes by klasikhs (cornel, drp, vcu)...maybe more but can't tell...empire/apd i think had the best mixes of the night...awesome competition

CONGRATS TO ALL TEAMS AND ALL PLACING TEAMS. EVERY TEAM WAS GREAT TO SEE AND BROUGHT SOMETHING MEMORABLE AND DEF ONE OF THE GREATEST COMPETITIONS I'VE SEEN....

Congrats to APD, Empire & VCU. APD is no doubt a surprise attack and after every summer you should expect that from 1-2 teams (props Danny).

Can someone post a review about who actually had the best routine of the night? It seems like Empire, APD, DRP and Sher had the best stunts but who had the best bhangra routine?

Champion09, I think you went too far into detail on everyones performance rather than critiqing it. I don't think the teams will want to reveal everything you said. Basically gave away the big things in each routine without the video. I mean I'm not on any of the teams so I can't speak for then, I could be wrong.

I'm actually on my road trip back home.. At a rest stop eating subway ATM lmao.. But when I get home I'll definately post up
my own review of the show.

boston bhangra is one of the best organization. but i dont understand why are they shifting towards more modern, while the competition succeeded big time wid traditionality aspect in the past. this competition had 10X more excitement few years ago than it does now. teams like shan e punjab, i think came for the first time to US @ boston to perform... thats how much belief teams had in this competition (since previous judgings were based on tradionality, and it was d only competition where teams knew judgings were very very fair).

anyways big ups to vcu for still returning back every year, after being screwed several times in d previous years.

I highlighted that in pink cause it might be the gayest statement ever made in BTF history(besides any of the crap that comes out of Pritpals mouth)... Are you serious dude? Thats what an analysis is, a breakdown of a teams performance highlighting the main aspects of their routine...

and for all those teams that don't want their video posted, if I had your video I would post that shit in a heartbeat... You guys are fuckin lame..

Sidhu.. It all depends on what the audience wants !! The audience tends to favour Modern Bhangra over hardcore Traditional Bhangra in Boston because it keeps them entertained with the Gimmicks & Stunts.

Boston Bhangra 2007 was certainly memorable times minus the placings.

vik, there's a difference between a critique and telling everyone what a team did in the performance. Here are two different ways to critique a performance.

1. The stunt you guys did at the end ofthe routine was amazing. I definately liked the creativity and orginiality keep it up

2. Yo the team did a stunt where 10 guys got on top of 10 guys other shoulders and jumped off into a barrel roll off stage and handed out vardiyan to the judges to end the performance. I thought that was orginial and creative.

Notice the difference? If you are talking to a team, there is no need to describe a stunt or segment to the team to critique it because they should already know whAt you are talking about. The same reason you don't define "because" in an essay, the reader should already know what "because" means. In the first example I gave you, the critic literally gave no description of the stunt but just enough to get the point across of which part ofthe performance he or she was talking about, and then critiqued it. In the second example the critic literally is speaking to an audience and revealing what the performers actually did and THEN reviewing it. That's not needed especially if the team didn't give consent for their routine to be released.

Now you may disagree with what I'm saying, or may even agree. Just like me, you are entitled to your opinion just like I am. But for you to go and take a shot at me and say that the statements are gay and retarded make you low, immature and disrespectful. You are the exact reason we use BTF instead of POL. If that's hoe you handle opinions then I think you need to find a new forum.

I'm not dragging this discussion between me and you out any further and creating a drama in the forum. If you do have something else to say then I encourage you to PM me but if all you are going to do is insult me then keep it to yourself.

I apologize for sidetracking this topic but that's the end of what I had to put out. Hopefully everyone will take something out of what I said and put it to good use.

I wasn't really insulting you... You seem very butt hurt that someone gave an in-depth analysis and I was just pointing that out... The more details that an analysis provides, the better... It doesn't ruin anything or give anything away, open up a little...

I'm sorry but the part that I highlighted in BOLD is pure B.S.. Sports teams day in and day out perform their "routines" and it is up to them to switch it up. It's a part of the game. A bhangra team is no different.

Providing details is not 'analysis.' If your english prof asked you to analyze the three little pigs and you retold the story with a ton of details, you would fail.

Is everyone fuckin thick headed? Why perform at all when you want your routine to remain the biggest secret in America? It's fuckin bhangra people... Jesus christ, some of you make it sound like the routine you make is the most precious thing in the world and should not be discussed at all in any sort of detail... This is a bhangra forum, we talk about bhangra on here...

I think that teams like to compete in multiple competitions that are close to one another, and you're right it shouldn't kept a secret. But, it's up to the teams when they want to share the routine with the world. If they have two competitions less than a month away from each other I'm sure they would want to save it until that second competition is over to keep the element in surprise. Because if you see a performance or hear about it beforehand and you see it being done again not exactly the same but in familiar fashion then you tend to expect things to happen instead of being surprised.
