damn the kids these days are good:| ten years from now there going to take over this forum and probably do things none of us dreampt would be possible in bhangra. It amazes me how they can hold there own and feel the music in there preformance,when my 9 year old cousin is still learning to ride a bike and swim lol .

lol back to the thread though PCBCA i had you taking first before this competition, and in my books your still first. Your set was hella clean and entertaining to say the least. The mix was well done, there might have been a tad bit to many brauhs, sword swips, and chak de's but you did a very good job with it. I like your song selection, and i love how you guys arnt afraid to be close to one another when the situation calls for it. What i mean be the previous sentence is that there is no need for female jori;s in ur dance because the guys can pull of that part with ease haha good job guys i expect to see you alot more as time moves on.

after watching both preformances i felt panj was just as good if not better, that is.. until PCBCA brought out the younglings.

2. PANJ (although best preformance ive seen from them which could also be said about PCBCA)
3. undecided until i see the rest of the videos

Blah blah blah Vibc blah blah blah modern comp blah blah blah, but like someone else said how the hell was this not considered entertaining enough to AT LEAST get third? No fuckin clue. I really enjoyed the set, every part had me hooked. Still absolutely love the squirrel katos haha and oh my god that kato line shift was incredible. Only thing I just really didn't like was the fact that you guys literally chucked your props out of your way once you were done with them. I like the fact that you guys didn't have any pauses in the routine, but you could've just as easily done betka and put your props down that way instead of chucking them offstage. I mean, people pay all kinds of money for the props so why not take care of them?

Solid set. I'm glad Ashqe brought up the props issue. It wasnt clear from a low-res video, but I watched the endings of the props segments a few times to really see how those katos and saaps were thrown. I think it was way too forceful and almost disrespectful to chuck them off-stage like that (i'm talking about getting rid of the katos especially at 2:50).

I don't really comment on too many videos on BTF (mostly b/c I don't think videos are a fair basis for comparing the top 3-4 teams at a competition), but let me just say I cannot wait to see the HD version of this performance. This was an incredibly exciting set right down to the formations that kept me constantly interested, the very entertaining way you incorporated traditional elements into your dance, how seasoned your dancers are and the style the top dancers brought to each move...And I agree w/ Saleem on the props...However I do look forward to seeing more from this team...Congratulations on an excellent performance! Please put up the HD version soon...

I dont know if i completly agree with that. I mean yes bhangra is traditional and has its cultural aspects and everything should be respected, but by extension should we consider it disrespectful if we misuse the props to? I do believe it is stupid to chuck props down at the risk of breaking them, but that comes at the own teams risk. Of course i might be wrong, maybe there is a cultural significance to the props im not to sure, but i think these days things are analyzed to closely somtimes. Its just a thought that ran through my mind while reading your comment Saleem.

i've been to 5 competitions in the past two months, and at every single one, the judging was effed...straight up don't let this shit get to you guys, you guys smashed it....I know what its like to get screwed over, Its to the point where, i don't see much of a point in competing still

Yeah i totally understand that. But even SIAC bhangra threw their khundey straight down at the chicago comp.
But none the less, we haven't done it before and i knew at vibc the judges weren't gna be looking at the traditional aspect of our routine as much as the entertainment value.

Props definitely do have cultural significance which is why I too believe it is quite disrespectful to callously toss props! I remember how before every practice at PAU, all the team members would pray in a circle surrounding their props/dhol. The respect you should have for your props is the same respect you would accord a dhol...To quote a Pappi Gill boli: "Gut te gaane bunnee phirde, bhangrey nu rabb mannee phirdey!"
