Many of these teams aren't elite in their category, or consist of the same dancers...just sayin...not saying there havn't been good live teams from the east coast, just saying that they aren't dominant...


meanwhile, other regions have more of the elite live teams...

LOL typical faizan one liner that will send everyone reeling... but i have to agree (upon his later clarification of this bold post) that there isn't exactly an abundance of teams that go the live route. There have been GREAT live teams but it is not a force out of US East.

I don't agree that none are elite, though. PPA is dirty, though they fluctuate with their dancers all the time. LSD is pretty good as well.

Look, I am not trying to put down any regions...my team reps the east in terms of elite 8...i'm eastcoast for sure...but the bottom line is, the live team pool is small and underdeveloped on the east coast...i think this has many reasons...


1. the general trend towards modern bhangra in east coast historically...
2. the lack of dholis and singers on the east coast...
3. the fact that most all guys teams prefer folk music, or modern...


PPA is by-far the best live team from the East (do they still exist?), and TBT built the traditional movement...but outside of PPA, MAD and LSD, Gajjde (the last two of which either don't compete much, or don't dominate, although LSD has gotten way better)...there isn't much...(RU stopped doing live, they were huge for going live co-ed)


but look at toronto, their premiere music teams, SGPD, and NJ are amazing live...on top of that is RPD, Shan-e and many more...
vancouver, surrey is huge on live...


even the left coast, teams like HPD and VDW are nasty...


every region has its core competency..


the east is huge on folk and modernish music teams...vcu, aeg, virsa, guardians etc.
the west is huge on either super modern or super folk...apd, empire, hpd, vdw
toronto dominates music teams and is great at live...i dont have to make a list
vancouver is a little bit of everything...SIAC to Duniya...it's diverse...

Faizan you also have to look at how many good comps there are for live teams on the US East Coast...If your on a live team, its really only fun competing against other live teams. Its hard to plan and pay for travel just to get some good competition. Thats one of the reasons the Live teams that the East Coast do not compete as often. Many of the East Coast live teams only end up competing once a year kuz they dont want to fly across the country (or to another country for that matter) every other month...
there have been some good performances in the last few years from East Coast Live teams... just not as many as other regions, and this might be one of the contributing factors.
