I like the poetic style of your post. It's really deep. But Ivy, you're from NJW - Is that Nachdi Jawani Warriors as in one of the teams that competed? Or am I mistaken?

Jawani Warriors is a NJ team, right?

Warriors are from the Rexdale or Gore location I believe , Rexdale is what Im thinking. Ive seen a couple of those kids practice up at the Gore one for a while now and they have tons of skill. Watch out world Warriors taking over and the 5 years old to 9 years old team PBC , booya!

like how in the world did RPD come 2nd wen dere routine was pure dynamite, not sayin GS routine wasnt gud, but RPD's had the slighter touch to it here and dere
But when it comes to modern, HUGE TALKS
i was dere watchin it, once SGPD came on stage, it was like WTF in my head: ??? da suits may have luked funny, but damn, were they unique as hell 8)
Thier routine was DYNAMITE, like pure, especially the Leprechaun kick they did in their routine, dat was mouth watering
Nachdi Jawani's routine was gud, but not energetic at all  it was a competition not a kabadi match ???
Am i right or wrong, that it was MASTI 3 Bhangra competiton, not no KABADDI MATCH

wait a sec, ur tlking about nachdi kabbadi thing right um first of all kabaddi has sum sort of connection with our culture, correct me if im rong, wtf does a leprechaun kcik have to do with bhangra, punjab, or our culture like ur trying to mak efun of nachdi's kabaddi segment and ur trying to say the leprechaun thing was sick like take a second to think about wat ur saying and see if it even makes sense and as ur saying to nachdi that this isnt a kabbadi match we'll it isnt a modern hip hop dance show either or a irish dance show .... ???

The lack of sleep was well worth it.

I had sooooo much fun at Masti this weekend! Atinder/Andy and all the Shan E Punjab people were so amazingly hospitable from food to water to rides to anything we needed, we all really appreciated it!

And the competition was a blast, aside from the fact that there were no seats for the performers, watching everything court side was pretty cool. All of the teams were awesome, I don't really care much about the discrepancies being discussed about the placings...as per the usual some folks showed poor sportsmanship but that's none of my concern really.

I loooved Nachde Shokeen. I looooved AEG's mix.

The after party outside of room 250 was pretty awesome...too bad all I could hear in my dreams were "aaja beja kole tenu gal sunaavan nee..." and "enu kende jattan wali aa gal jattan wali..." Watch out for the SMD PDDS collabo.

It's been real. It's been fun.

WOOHOO!

shan-e and the whole punjabi dance academy, thank you so much...andy, atinder, oppzzzz, you guys were really gentlemen. by far the best competition i have ever been to. there are so many things you guys did for us, and we appreciate it more than you know.

the judging was deplorable. and an insult to the time and energy teams put into the competition.

the lack of sportsmanship cited previously needs to end. the kids coming up will be even worse. it's sad and embarassing.

sgpd, this was the best set i have ever seen from you guys...the new outfits are beautiful.

P.S. This is Faizan under Joe's name-My opinions do not reflect his at all, although I'm positive he feels the same way.

NJ definitely had some cool parts and unique stuff. Incredibly clean. Could have taken 1st at any comp... EXCEPT when compared to SGPD's set, sgpd just took it to another level. sgpd's performance was just ridiculous. In my opinion SGPD put wayyyyy more into this competition than NJ did. The choreography was better, formations were better, mix was better, energy was better, and it made me excited whereas nj just kept me interested. annddd this is written after having watched both videos 3+ times.

SGPD makes NJ's performance look like a warmup. Can't wait to see peoples' opinions once both videos are released and each of you can be the judge......

The competition was a lot of fun and the organizers were great in helping the teams out as much as they could with food/rides.

Good times chilling with SMD and Nachde Shokeen after the show. Shoutout to Kohinoor also. SMD/PDDS collabo coming soon,

But this weekend really showed me the true colors of the Toronto bhangra scene. The disrespect and blatant cockyness of a number of team from Toronto was unbelievable and uncalled for. The way these guys stormed around, cussed up a storm and were trash talking almost to the point of fighting was ridiculous. And its funny because Toronto loves to put up a mask of doing it for the love of bhangra and for the future generations while they let their egoes and misguided macho attitudes make them look like tools. Toronto may have a lot of bhangra talent, but they are lacking in class completely.

Also, if anyone has our video we would prefer it not be put up. Thanks.

Just wanted to say thank you to the entire Bhangra Masti crew (Atinder, Andy, and the rest of the Shan E people) for taking such great care of the teams. I have never been to a competition that treated teams so well, they were constantly checking in with us to see if we needed rides, water, food, anything. We were provided with practice space for both Friday and Saturday, which is unheard of at most competitions, and were constantly kept in the loop with updates for the show.

We had a great time hanging out with some of the teams, shoutout to AEG for all the help, PANJ girls for dressing room bonding, and to PDDS for keeping us awake until way past our bedtime. I think my boli session quota has officially been extended.

I also wanted to reiterate what others said about the complete lack of sportsmanship and professionalism that was exhibited by some of the teams. I'm not clued in to the behind-the-scenes drama in the Toronto area, but I don't think anything can justify the behavior of some of the teams during and after the placings. It is disrespectful to the organizers, your fellow dancers, judges, and audience members.

Unfortunately I didn't get to watch any of the teams before us, so I missed the modern and girls teams. I only saw the live teams from backstage so I don't think I can accurately critique their performances. I did watch some videos after the show and I was impressed with the precision that both Nachdi Jawani and SGPD brought with their performances. Personally I preferred SGPD's routine because I enjoy the creativity that they brought. The little Irish kick in the middle of the dance was executed with perfection and the whole set was entertaining. But again, this is because of my personal preferences. Nachdi Jawani had a different approach that was also executed well. I also enjoyed the PANJ video that I saw, they performed a traditional set with grace and cleanliness that's hard to find in girls teams.

Just finished watching the videos. NJ had a awsome performance, the most grace that I have seen from them, It was bhangra idols all over again. Not one dacner was over the top. The music, the formations everything was on key.

SGPD- the vardiyaan looked sick, especially during the jugnee look like a big rainbow. They had every single element of a bhangra routine (jugnee, mirza, dhamaal etc etc) The best routine sgpd has ever come up with, the jhummer cant even be touched, and the bedi was sickkkkkk too. The energy was their jsut like always and the intense smiles.

Lokking back at it after watchign the videos over and over and over again :p...NJ was sick, but we are soo use to seeing a vibc set from them, so this time it seemed like they held back. SGPD from day one were trying to literally rip a patch in that stage and they did, they pushed themselves to another level.. I remeber telling vic I wanted ' sgpd at Masti 08' back, this was that x5..:)

On behalf of Canadian Punjabi Dance Academy and Shan-E-Punjab Bhangra Team, we would like to thank all the teams that competed at Bhangra Masti 3 to make it one of the most successful and memorable competitions as it was a SOLDOUT event. Bhangra Masti Committee takes pride in serving every team anyway possible to make sure teams are satisfied with the hospitality provided throughout the weekend. However, they was an incident at the hotel on Saturday Night where the room number plates were taken off by one specific member from a team which was not appreciated by the committee at all.

It was good chilling with the teams after the competition as the committee had a great time with all the team members.

Also, Bhangra Masti Committee were not advised by two teams that they are not competing at all. I would recommend teams that if they have decided to drop out of the competition in the future, they should advise the committee before hand so the teams on the waiting list can be notified.

Please provide us all the feedback and suggestions to serve the teams better next year by contacting us through bhangramasticomp@gmail.com

Also, the pictures will be available on www.MPElive.com very soon and the teams that competed will be mailed an OFFICIAL DVD copy as soon as it is ready.

awesome thread :p sick competition and all teams brought their all. Umm SGPD should have got 1st place, and Nachdi Jawani should have got 2nd, SGPD put in their all and had an amazing set, one of the best music sets i've ever seen, i can say that much easily. Nachdi seemed like they didnt bring their all, it was a sick set, a lot of grace ... but they were missing that "OMG" factor. So yeah i dont really agree with the judging. Rooh also should have got 1st, but nachde shokeen did a hell of a job as well. LOL i loved SGPD'S set but im not going to lie, i really hated their chadrey, the rainbow combination wasnt working for me ... none the less they brought their A GAME. And nobody should really trip out if someone has an opinion of their own, like the dude that said they looked like clowns lol thats his opinion ... let it be :) anywayz SGPD RIPPED IT, LEFT ME SPEECHLESS, and from nachdi i hope to see more at DDA. they let me down :(
