Moderator's Note: I woke up to like 10 emails regarding this thread. I think we all (me included) need to take the opportunity of a fresh day to see what was written and reevaluate if that's what was best. Regarding the weak moderation of Vick, we confirm every mod between 2 moderators before taking any action and that was what was agreed late last night. Again, with more thought, there likely will be more moderation today. Let us discuss. Take the time to breathe. BTF has discussed this situation plenty.

I was hoping I would not have to make a comment regarding the sgpd/nj issue but 8 pages in with people repeating themselves I thought it was about time. Ok one team left the stage wiht the trophie the other one dropped the cheque, everyone read the lectures on sportsmanship etc. Almost everyone agreed it shouldnt have happend. So whats the problem now? If both teams argued amongst eachother or whatever , whos business is that?. We should be concerned with what we see, we saw the performances and saw poor sportsmanship, whats the need about going on and on and on and on about it. Honestly everyone needs to worry about their own teams, and bhangra it self. If teams are fighting over placings a and trophies then let it be, if your team is not involved then let it go. But god forbid we let that happend.

I was their, my brother is on one of those 2 teams. I saw everything happen from beginning to end, but its none of my business nor is it anyones elses. We need to be concerned with the time from when the curtains open, to when the curtains close. Thats it.
I have to respectfully disagree with you Hkiran, but in an effort to keep this thread more about the teams' performances and less about the drama I started another thread regarding the 'sportsmanship issue'.

Also congrats on the PANJ win

ok this is really out of hand now.....the fact no one from these teams are commenting on this means they don't wan to make it public and will resolve the issue by themselves...sitting here and adding to the fire is unnessacy.....This topic needs to die, for all we could be blowing it out of proportion, since no one really knows what happened and the people that do don't want to share. The Toronto teams have their own bhangra drama and let them resolve it.

Congrats to both teams and Masti organizers for throwing a good competition and selecting one of the illest line up to date.

This logic is flawed in so many ways... You are a captain, it sad to see this mentality from a leader... By your logic, if there was a fight back stage, every team not involved should turn their back to it, not say a word about it, and walk away as if nothing occurred...

Yea I'm a leader, and ,maybe thats why I have this view on it. I fully agree that poor sportsmanship was shown on that stage and both teams were called out for it. But if back stage me and another team gets into a fight, i dont except the teams standing around watching to get involved, and above that start assuming things. Its just my take on the issue.

Ok.. again, let's bring this discussion back to bhangra.

I haven't heard any serious reviews on Nachde Shokeen vs. RPD.

Interesting to see Nachde Shokeen place over SIAC at Masti, when a few months ago SIAC placed first over them at PCS Chicago. I wonder if both teams did the same routine.

rpd and nachdey shokeen seemed neck and neck, both teams were sick, SIAC had a great routine, but compared to rooh and nachdey shokeen, they were realllly slow

Good job tho on the place, just gotta work on that wow factor for you guys. But honestly i didnt expect what you brought being a team from the states. I was pretty much like, woah; US is starting to get ground on us :p

What is the point of acting all tough, this gangster shit, the extreme ego? You get onstage and literally dance around in flowery vests and tie-dye paghs. Why do we need this machoman crap?

First off, just would like to thank WAHEGURU for giving us the oppurtunity to compete and win and share the stage with such talented dancers. Also thank you to the organizers, atinder, andy, opinder, etc. Made the weekend so relaxed and helped us out with everything we needed, so thanks.

The mixer was cool, kinda like a akand path kinda feeling, where everything was sitting on the ground on the white chaddars, cramped together listening. Except instead of kirtan their was music :p Kinda went long with all the singing and one or 2 boliyan were dirty and made all the girls teams (atleast the ones that understood) feel ackward, kinda wanted to leave right then but we stayed for the roti.

Rehearsal ran smoothly, everything was mostly on time. No problems with rides or anything. The only problem that i had was that i clearly wrote out all our lighting requests and timings on a piece of paper and gave it to the stage manager. They had said no curtains so we asked for a blackout. At the actually comp, they had curtains so the teams could set up, which is understandable, but our front line started right at the corners of the stage, so we needed those curtains removed and the black out just like we asked for it. So i went up to the stage manager, 30 secs before our music kicked in, and he completely denied me giving him the lighting and timing requests. Kinda got angry that I was even calling him out on it. Which is funny cause they got all the rest of our lighting requests on point, but yet denied me giving him the lighting requests to begin off with.

Overall things were run smooth, most of our girls are vegetarian so they brought us vegetarian pizza, kinda didnt mind sharing a small room with the girls, Especially smd you guys were sooooo awsome and friendly to hang out with. All the teams were mostly friendly and everyone kinda hung around together since all the hotel rooms were on the same floor.

The competition itself was pretty good, good choice of hosts. They kept the audience engaged. Didn't see all the teams but looked like most teams were qualified and brought something to the table.

Sucks what the outcome was, Bhangra Masti really shouldn't of tied NJ and SGPD. What are judges for? They could of taken an extra 5 mins and broke the tie. I think it would of changed how the teams acted. Although, I wish both teams were more professional when it came to accepting the money and trophy. I mean RPD didnt when 1st, SIAC won 3rd, you didn't see them making a scene publically. But to each their own, I don't know how I would feel about a tie for first if it would have happenend to us.

Bhangra Masti was a great comp and well organzied for having soo many teams. Congrats to all the teams and a job well done to everyone that made the comp happen.

Just to clear everything up, Bhangra Masti Committee did not have anything to do with the TIE. After the mixer was over, the committee had a meeting with the judges and it was clearly stated to them that there should be no TIES in any of the categories because it causes HAVOC between teams. If the judges felt it was a tie, that was thier decision given to the committee and the decision was presented in front of the audience.

Having a tie does not resolve everything but causes more work for the committee/organizers: making a new trophy, making more medals etc.

H.S. is telling the truth, there were no ties in scoring, end of story...tie means equal, and scores of the teams were not equal, end of story...the judges really dropped the ball on this one. We saw the sheets ourselves, and even know the numbers everyone got (not my place to say what everyone got), maddd fucked up.

this statement is completely absurd and false. Before i finish ima say that im not trying to disrepesct the bhangra masti committee but this post of their is very contradicting.

Claiming that they had nothing to do with the tie is actually the complete opposite of what they told a few teams. When my captain and i were waiting after the show to see our score sheets committee members were explaining how the scoring process went to SGPD. When sgpd was given their final scores the captain asked the committee member why there was a tie when scores werent the same. The Committee member's reply was that it is the committee and academy's policy to tie two teams when the difference in scores is so small.

I heard it clear as day and so did everyone who was standing around us. Again what the Bhangra masti committee decides to do is up to them but please refrain from making contradicting statements.
