I'm surprised at the slow response by the Secret Service, I would expect that guy to be pumped full of bullets - instead the casually restrained him. Those shoes could have had explosives in them.

But I do agree that Bush handled it really well. You do have to respect him for staying at the podium and continuing so calmly. But I could have sworn I almost saw a smirk on his face as the shoes were being thrown as if he was happy that someone cares about him enough to throw a shoe at him.

haha id like to think that anyone in that press room had to go through some strict security measures/metal detectors before they were allowed in...either way, some nice dodging by bush, his answer to why the shoes were thrown was weak as hell tho, he knows damn right that large portions of the population hate him, i doubt that correspondent cared about the attention
