BTF will continue to be archived and hosted here

I use the same basic method that's shown in the video above, but when I'm scrunching up the fabric, I have the dancer sit in a jugni position, usually as low as they will get during the performance. Once the material is scrunched up, make 2 clockwise turns with the ties and have the dancer hold...
Hey everyone, if you take a video of UVA at Tdot this weekend, please don't post it on BTF/youtube yet as the team will also be competing at Bhangra in the Burgh next week. If you have a video of UVA, please pm me or email ak6ym@virginia.edu. Thanks, and good luck to all teams tomorrow.
I think that the thread kinda got off track for the past day or so, but the overarching point wasn't that teams themselves are less motivated to work hard for competitions. The fact is, competitions just don't generate as much hype these days. It used to be an honor to get accepted to some of...
Seriously, what the hell is this? Does more 'likes' mean that a competition will have a greater turnout? I get the concept of social media, but this has got to be one of the more annoying trends I've seen.
And Faizan hit it on the head, the fire's what used to drive this circuit. I remember...
As far as I've seen, attendance rates are down for most competitions. Back in the 2009, I think Bhangra Blowout had a crowd of at least 3-4000 people, and the energy of the crowd was just insane. Now I see competitions like DDA, which used to be one of the most prestigious competitions to get...
It's kinda sad that some of the competitions that used to be huge fixtures in this circuit are gone, so I wanted to make a list of fallen competitions to remember some of the good (and potentially bad) times. Help add to this list if you can (this isn't in any sort of order):
Apna Virsa Apna...
It's possible. I did it with JJ for Elite 8 2012 and for Bhangra at the Bell this past March (I'm in my third year now), and I also danced with UVa at Burgh last year too. I go to school in Philadelphia, and obviously I wasn't going to all of the practices for these comps, but I drove down to...
I think for a while, the Virginia/DC area was also another one of those more Punjabi-centric areas, maybe not so much as Canada or Cali, but it definitely had more of a traditional basis for bhangra than other areas. A few years back, I would say the majority of the members of VCU/LSD/MAD/PPA...
BTF is mad boring these days, so here's hoping for some interesting discussion:
What is the best routine that didn't place at a competition (excluding Elite 8 because there's only one placing)
My pick: NJ @ DDA 2009 Nachdi Jawani @ Dhol Di Awaz 2009
Live team pick: SGPD @ PFDF 2009 (this...
Re: Carolina Bhangra Squad at Notorious Bhangra II
Komil, you suck and I hate you. It's not fair that you get to keep dancing. Haha for real though, this was a great set, definitely my favorite one to come out of Carolina. There was some very strong dancing and the set had nice flow and...
