+1 - Here is more details about their team, including a contact e-mail: https://www.facebook.com/NishaniBhangra I am not sure if they are looking for girls, but if not.. they can certainly help direct to you to other local teams in the Houston area that might be. Good luck! ~ Basim :)

A bhangra troupe from the 1970's (credit goes to Romy): http://bhangrateamsforum.com/discuss/main-bhangra-discussion/going-clean-shaven-for-competition/msg230150/#msg230150 ~ Basim :)

The short girl in the red (Deepika - based on the GTV description) absolutely killed the set. Amazing energy and nakhre throughout the performance. Cleanliness and uniformity of the dancers could be improved. More creativity with formations and complexity with the moves (with possibly adding...

Sickkk performance boys! Loved the contrast of the vardiyan and the court. Favorites parts were the slow mo baitka moves and all the combo moves at the end (pataka, phumaniya footwork, chaffa, and the jumps) all while in a double man tower! Looked like great fun. ~ Basim :) P.S. - Gopi, I...

Thanks for the update Sajan. Surprised that Alamo City Bhangra (ACB) isn't part of this lineup. I was hoping this to be a battle of all the Texas teams at least, since there hasn't been one comp where they have all been present. Btw, is that Rupinder Sandu (the gidha dancer) judging whose...

Beautifully made Jasraj! Thanks for sharing all the pictures. Good luck with this venture. ~ Basim :)

Cool idea and great panel selected. This should be extremely helpful for all teams performing. Question: How & when will the feedback be provided to teams? Will these individuals basically be watching a live stream of the event, write down their comments, and provide feedback to the teams after...

Re: -- SMD Bhangra is proud to present Bhangra to Believe -- Gah.. wish I was in NY! Have fun dancing & getting your groove on while indirectly benefiting a worthy cause? Count me in, lol. Good luck with the event. It's nice to see bhangra teams/club coming together to put on events like this...

Let's not get into a quarrel by attacking each other's usernames, characters, and/or actions (non-relevant things to this topic). I, for one, love to hear & read critiques from all sorts of people. Whether the person be a former dancer, current dancer, chimta player (<3 u guys), or just a fan...

Clearly, I'm being ignored... :P The facebook link to the pictures of the 2013 competition in the link that I provided above still work.. if that helps at all. From what I remember, there wasn't any reviews of the competition itself posted on BTF. If some of the teams or participants that...

Awww, you're not involved on the back end of the show's operations anymore Romy? :( That's unfortunate. Well at least VIBC has HK to continue the legacy! yay. Congrats on the very diverse guys - excited to see some of the older/retired teams makes a return. The VIBC performances are always such...

Nope Mariam. If you check the user's post history, you'll see that the committee initially posted some details about their 2014 competition on back in December of last year...

It's actually the name of a popular brand of naan sold in South Asian food stores: Delicious stuff! Maybe you guys could score a sponsorship deal of some sort. ~ Basim :)

Nice stuff bro. I enjoyed the background beat and how you beat mapped it with the original song. I really liked the tempo effect at 0:07-0:08. Not a huge fan of just showing throwing in high hats to sound "different" - i.e. at 0:40 onwards, I was looking to hear you change things up a bit or be...

Isn't the music for GTV videos coming directly from the the venue's soundboard? I thought that's how you had it setup Harjot. I remember that in the past, GTV had to gather team mixes directly so that during editing, audio could be overlayed on top of the GTV video that was captured. From my...

Harjot - just a small question. Do the teams provide you with all the songs they used in their routine? In other words, do you request this information in the form that you send to the teams or is this list of songs something that you have to come up with on your own? I'm assuming the team...

Being a fan of analysis and numbers (especially in an easy to read/concise manner), I was thoroughly impressed by this. Excellent work Faizan, Kinnell, Swi, Arjun and whoever else might have been involved. Small typo on page 19: "We can then normalize the all the normalized scores of the...

Amazing lineup. A great mix of both West Coast and East Coast teams. Good luck to all those competing and to the Bruin Bhangra committee. ~ Basim :)

Yay for Cornell, congrats! I can't wait to read some reviews and see some videos. I'm sure all of the recent alumni are extremely proud that the legacy is continuing forward for this collegiate team. I'm sure with such great head to head battles, a lot of teams "brought it".. not only fought to...

Awesome work - loved the songs selection and all the variations (i.e. tempo adjustments) that you used throughout the mix. Thanks for sharing Karan, ~ Basim :)
